Mr.P.I Sherief Muhammed

 Chairman


             Mr. P.I. Sherief Mohammed is the chairman of the Musaliar Education Trust. He is a distinguished personality, very active in education and public service. He is the eldest son of late Sri. N. Ismail, who was the chairman of the trust during 2001- 2008. Rank holder throughout his educational career, he has been in Government service in the Commercial Taxes Department of Kerala. A post graduate from the University college, Trivandrum, Mr. Sherief had been the chairman of the then college union. He is a distinguished orator in various topics and has lectured in various universities across the country. He has delivered the Kanchi Paramacharya Commemoration lecture at Chennai, Lecture on Islam and Science at the auspices of the Templeton Foundation, USA, Justice Sridharan Memorial lecture, lecture on Rajeev’s role in national Integration at New Delhi, etc.


               He is also the Secretary of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Pathanamthiatta Kendra and coordinator of Gandhi Institute of Computer Education. Ha had been a visiting faculty in the Institute of Management in Government, Trivandrum.


               He has also addressed various forums on issues like Communal Harmony, National Integration and Water Conservation. His activities had been congratulated by the then President of India, Dr.A.P.J. Abdul Kalam at Rashtrapathi Bhavan on 15/7/2007.


His activities had been covered by almost all electronic as well as print media including CNN-IBN.


Chairman of the Trust Mr. P.I.Sherief Mohammed has been awarded the Ambedkar National Fellowship by the Bharatiya Dalit Sahithya Academy, New Delhi, an autonomous institution under the Government of India. The award is recognition for his outstanding contribution for uplifting the social status of dalits at the national level.


 He has obtained many distinguished awards. Few of them are:


  1. Nominee for the Communal Harmony Award, Govt. of India.2007

  2. Rajiv Gandhi Shiromani Award for National Integration and Economic , New Delhi.

  3. Justice Sundaram Iyer Award for promotion of Sanskrit.

  4. Dr. Ambedkar Award, Dalit Academy , New Delhi.

  5. Palathully Puraskara, by Malayala Manorama for rain water conservation project in the college.

  6. Harijan Welfare Award for providing drinking water to Dalit Colonies.

  7. Contested as candidate of the Ernakulam Parliamentary Constituency in 2009.


                He is currently engaged in value based education, women’s education and education of marginalized children through Musaliar Education Trust, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan and Edusat.
